First mobile app to accept donations

BBC Children in Need’s digital presence has been growing significantly over the last few years. 2012 saw the launch of a new website, mobile site and first ever mobile app - iPudsey. As well as sharing information and games this new tool allows BBC Children in Need to take advantage of Opayo’s payment technology enabling donations from directly within the app.

Introducing iPudsey

Sarah Monteith, Director of Marketing and Fundraising at BBC Children in Need said, “We are thrilled to introduce our first mobile app, offering users another way to engage with the charity and help raise vital funds, to support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK. We are delighted to have Opayo on board as one of our official technology partners.”

Opayo customised payments page

The app takes the user to a customised Opayo payment page to make a donation, allowing it to fit seamlessly within the app’s design.  The secure payment page is hosted securely by Opayo, creating a seamless customer experience.

Supporting Children in Need

Opayo has supported BBC Children in Need by contributing towards the mobile app’s development costs, and has committed to offer free services for all donations processed.

The mobile app is available for free from the App Store on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch now at and also on Android.
